On Thursday, October 20th, HCCMC hosted a Networking Event with Rep. David Trone at Burtons Grill & Bar in Gaithersburg, MD.
About Congressman Trone
Congressman David Trone was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018 to serve the 6th District of Maryland. David serves on the powerful Appropriations Committee, the Joint Economic Committee, and the Veterans Affairs Committee, where he is fighting to make progress on issues that matter to Marylanders, including the opioid epidemic, mental health, criminal justice reform, and funding for mental health research.
David grew up on a 200-acre chicken and hog farm with his mother, a grade school teacher, and his father, a WWII Veteran and member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Though the family lost the farm to bankruptcy, David was given an opportunity through education. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Furman University and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton School of Business.
It was in graduate school that he met his wife, June, and opened his first store selling soda and beer. Through a lot of hard work, that single store grew into a business with more than 240 stores in 27 states and 12,000 employees nationwide – over 600 of whom are in Montgomery County, Maryland.
In Congress, David brings his business and management expertise to establish long-term thinking and pass policies to support our diverse workforce.
