A Conversation With Comptroller Peter Franchot

On Wednesday, February 23, HCCMC hosted a live conversation with Comptroller and candidate to Governor of Maryland, Peter Franchot.

The Honorable Peter Franchot was elected Maryland’s 33rd Comptroller on November 7, 2006 and sworn into office on January 22, 2007. He was re-elected with more than one million votes in 2010 and 2014, and more than 1.6 million votes in 2018 making gubernatorial election history in Maryland.

Mr. Franchot has been an independent voice and fiscal watchdog for the taxpayers of Maryland. Serving on the three-member Board of Public Works, he approves billions of dollars in state contracts each year. Comptroller Franchot has worked tirelessly to keep Maryland competitive in the knowledge-based economy, assisting working families, and protecting the State’s natural resources.

Comptroller Franchot attended Amherst College and Northeastern School of Law. From 1968-1970, Comptroller Franchot served in the United States Army. He is married to Anne Maher, a lawyer, and they have two children: Abigail and Nick and three grandchildren.
